It is not usually Marxism's grfoilication of the proletariat or its criticisms of industrial abuses that raise our ire, but the fact that it requires a coercive and mammoth state to carry out its aims in the name of a positivist philosophy not unlike Distributism. I will concede that a distributist state would require no more power than was required by Marxist governments in their effort to move property from one group to another. I think Prof. Storck is leaving us with an unfair choice between Statism and Corporatism. Neither are even possible without the other, just ask Gazprom, GM, or Fannie Mae. Furthermore, a false analogy is being made between individual and public vices economics is not like marriage, I'm sure most spouses would object to the introduction of competition. When governments don't guarantee loans and grant monopolies, the market is self-regulating. This is not blind faith, but an observed economic law [just watch how the GOP candidates go after Romney]. From what I can glean from the Distributist literature I've read, most are content to have a larger share of a much smaller pie and compel the rest of us to also. Prof. Strock, do you still stand behind your comments in the NOR last year where you called for the excommunication of the Austrian cult ?

Thanks Paul. I can't speak for the entire group, these are iporessimns that I came away with through what I heard and saw while there. That said, my interpretation was that yes, process is necessary and important, but that we should not lose sight of the end goal which is user success. There was also a meme about toolkits in favor of process that was interesting. Ultimately, process exists to help teams create products that users will love.

Not really. While Rails is a frrmewoak and PHP a language, PHP's frrmewoaks are a lot more bloated than Rails, especially Zend and Cake. Rails leaves a lot of that to plugins and gems, which makes it very lean. I do think Rails should be compared to PHP as I reckon most ppl who write PHP don't use frrmewoaks, and perhaps rightfully so, because PHP isn't geared towards complex application design. It's probably the most simple language for creating a hello world .
